SERMIG – BAR

The food court located in the entrance building to Sermig, has always been a junction between the different buildings of the complex and a space where volunteers and visitors can take a short break, converse, study, and concentrate. For this reason, access to the café should be allowed at any time, even when the food service is closed. The bar’s unique environment is made flexible by a large sliding wall that makes two configurations possible: when the food service is open, the counter and sales space is united with the room, while the wall folded to one side hides the compartment with the vending machines, accessible only from the outside and separate from the bar. When the sale is closed, the wall unfolds to cover the counter and back while opening the connection between the vending machine compartment and the hall, allowing the area with tables and seating to be used. The venue also serves the function of promoting Sermig products, books and activities, so the fixed wall furnishings provide a display window on the association’s initiatives.
