PALMERS GREEN

About This Project

Two phase competition for the settlement of a residential complex in London suburbs: a nine storey building, aligned along an existing street, represents a potential for the future development of this area, made of common buildings, spread over a wide industrial area. The concept was inspired by material features that could be observed in residential buildings around the site,  and operates a contemporary transposition: the constructive materials are the same of the tradition in London outskirts, namely dark bricks, concrete, wooden battens and glass, but the way these materials are combined, investigates a new interaction between them and components. Longitudinal orientation of the facade is emphasized with the superposition by blocks, alternating a double floor volume with a glass strip retreated, which outdistance the solids and impress the facade in the horizontal direction.
