MAZZE’ – VITTORIO VENETO SQUARE
The project aims to restore a precise identity with a humanistic flavor, to a space now completely absorbed by vehicular traffic and used mainly as a parking lot. The design proposal circumscribes a raised plate of composite wooden planking, so as to mark a physical-perceptual and chromatic separation from the street level. This defines a “calm” space protected from the street level, reserved for pedestrian use. The plate folds on the west side like a sheet of paper, transforming into a wide seat, named “l’parlament,” which screens the parking area and becomes a place of gathering, sharing and debate for the citizens who reappropriate the small square.
